FAQs

  • Yes. Your coach will be able to advise which group your swimmer can transition into.


  •  Bridge is a practice group that is designed to fast track swimmers into Junior Academy. They will learn the skills and drills to be successful in Junior Academy. Normally these swimmers are coming from outside programs or just need a little fine tuning.


  •  Yes, all Junior Academy and Academy Swimmers need to have at minimum a Danvers Community YMCA Youth Membership. This allows them to compete in YMCA Meets representing the Danvers Community YMCA. This membership covers liability and insurance during meets and practice. The Danvers Community YMCA is a stand alone Y, the membership must be from the Danvers YMCA.


  •  Bridge and Junior Academy swimmers do NOT register for USA Swimming. Academy White Level Swimmers and higher Do register for USA Swimming.


  •  Yes, all members of the Danvers Y Dolfins Academy White and higher are required to have a USA Swimming membership. This membership covers liability and insurance during meets and practice.

  • All swimmers, except for those in Bridge, are required to compete in meets. If a swimmer is not interested in competing, they may register for Stroke and Turn.


  • Coaches may determine an athlete is ready to move during the current season. If the coach decides this is the best option for the athlete, they will contact the parent and team admin to make the change. 

  • Deadlines are put in place to ensure The Dolfins can secure space in meets and allow coaches time to pick events for swimmers. On rare occasions, late entries can be handled, but please do your best not miss the deadline. 


  • Qualifying times for meets will be posted in Captyn in the Championship meet. The team admin will run a report a month prior to the deadline of the meet and contact you.

  •  If an athlete wants to stop prior to the end of the commitment period, submit an email to the team admin CANCEL MEMBERSHIP”. The athlete’s membership will then be terminated and the remaining payments due for the commitment period will be billed. No refunds for administrative or registration fees will occur. 


  •  New swimmers or swimmers who have taken a break need to request a swim assessment. Assessments can be scheduled by filling out the form on the website or contacting mgr.dyd@danverymcadolfins.com. Swim Assessments are required for new swimmers in All groups.


  •  All registered athletes are committed through the conclusion of the commitment period for which they registered. If an athlete suffers an injury or long term illness that takes them away from training and/or competing, memberships can be paused by contacting mgr.dyd@danversymcadolfins.com. No pauses are allowed.


  • Junior Academy has 3 sessions September-the end of December, January - the end of March, April to the end of June.

    Academy has 2 sessions September to the end of March and April to the end of July


  • Families will be contacted prior to the end of the session to inform parents what group to register their swimmer. If they intend to continue swimming they will be emailed a link to register for the next session.

  •  No, all athletes on Junior Academy and Academy teams will receive a team suit, team t-shirt and two caps one blue for practice and one orange for meets. Bridge swimmers can wear a personal suit.

  • The Dolfins have a team store that can be found on the team website. We will also have a team fitting where swimmers can try on suits, and order personalized items, date to be announced.
